Bioscience BSc (Hons) (top-up with FdSc option)

The course covers a broad range of Biosciences (human physiology and disease, animal and plant biology and research skills) at a variety of scales (from atoms to ecosystems). A key feature is the interrelationship of the bioscience topics and the delivery by staff with industry and research experience. Relevant practical, mathematical and IT skills are utilised and developed throughout the course which are transferable to many other disciplines outside of science.

BSc (HONS) Bioscience Top-up Year (1 year)

The top up year gives the opportunity to extend the Bioscience FdSC into a fully recognised honours degree. Additional study in DNA and Gene manipulation, Medical Genetics and Cell biology build on the work covered by the Foundation degree,  culminating in an undergraduate research project, which gives you the opportunity to perform your own piece of scientific research under the supervision of one of the experienced scientific staff here at UCH.

Journalism NCTJ Fast Track – News, Magazine and Broadcast

This vocational course is for anyone wishing to work as a reporter on newspapers, magazines or online.The NCTJ is the industry's main training body and editors consider the NCTJ Diploma in Journalism to be the ‘gold standard’ of journalism training. Students complete seven modules, five of them compulsory, and can choose to major in news, magazines or broadcast. Classes run for four days a week and on the other day students are encouraged to be completing work experience on a newspaper, magazine, or in a broadcasting outlet.

This one-year course, regarded by many editors as the gold standard in training, helps to open doors into the industry. The course is intensive and the pressure tomeet deadlines is real.
