College Stars on the Red Carpet at Oscars Event
Oscar winning students from Media, Journalism and Photography
Monday 6th July saw the Harlow College 'Oscars' take place at Cineworld Harlow, where students from media, journalism, photography and animation were celebrated and awarded for their stunning creative projects.
Cameras flashed as the students arrived and, with their friends and family, walked in to main screen via the red carpet.
Also in attendance were Karen Spencer, Principal and Paul Taylor, Chair of the Governors. Hosting the glamourous event was Donald Matanga, a second year media student who spent the night presenting.
Donald, who won the award for Best Presenter, said: "I was nervous at first but the audience was amazing and the atmosphere was really good. It was a great send off for everyone and the work shown was the result of blood, sweat and tears."
This is the second year that Harlow College has run the Oscars, with both events proving to be a great success.
Assistant Academy Manager, Delta Muntean said: "The students collaborated with other departments, in particular music, where they had their music videos filmed. It gave them a real opportunity to be in the limelight and get some publicity. The Oscars is an opportunity to showcase student's work and also a chance for them to see it on the big screen."
Some of the winning categories included: Best Actor/Actress in a Leading Role, Best Animation, Best Documentary and Best Graphic Designer.
All still print and graphic work from the Oscars will be on display at the Gibberd Gallery from Wednesday 8 July, which is open to members of the public.
