Entrepreneur Masterclass
Bianca Miller, Finalist two years ago in the BBC series The Apprentice, gave Harlow College Business students a valuable insight into the world of business and entrepreneurship when she visited the College on Friday 11 November.
She held two 45 minute motivational workshops focused on the importance of personal branding and how best to market yourself when setting up a business. She shared her experiences of the challenges and pitfalls of business and the central message of the event was the importance of determination, ambition and self-belief.
Two years on from The Apprentice, Bianca is now CEO of her own successful company 'The Be group', specialising in personal branding, employability training and image consultancy. Last year she launched her own hosiery brand 'Bianca Miller London'.
Bianca Miller said: "It was really good to visit the College today. The students had really interesting questions to ask, about business and entrepreneurship, and also about The Apprentice. When I first visited two years ago I was still involved in the show and just starting my journey as a businesswoman. Since then I've learnt so much and now, as well as juggling two businesses, I speak at conferences and business events both in the UK and abroad.
"I have two messages that I'd like to give the students. Firstly, 'it's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice' and secondly, 'feel the fear and do it anyway'! I would encourage students at this point in their life to just try things out."
Karl Swanepoel, Year 1 Level 3 Business student, said of the visit: "It was really interesting listening to Bianca talking about her experiences. My ambition is to start my own online marketing company and I'll definitely be taking some of her advice on board. I wouldn't even rule out appearing on The Apprentice if I had the chance! The main main thing I took from Bianca's talk today was the importance of making a good first impression."
