UCAS Information – Aviation Operations
Additional contextualised information for UCAS references – Aviation Operations
For the academic year 2021-2022 Stansted airport College (part of Harlow College) has returned to full face to face teaching on time, from 13th September 2021. The BTEC Aviation Operations programmes that we deliver require students to attend a 3-day-a-week timetable of sessions from 0900-1530hrs which will ensure all curriculum programmes will be provided without the need for adaptations. The full academic year is divided into 3 trimesters and is planned to complete on 24th June 2022.
In line with current Government Covid guidelines, we continue to maintain social distancing practices and the option of face mask wearing in all areas. Hand sanitisers and one way systems on the stairs remain in place. These procedures are not currently envisaged to curtail any theoretical or practical sessions that the curriculum require to be completed; although we are experiencing some limitations on potential trips and work experience opportunities as the Aviation Industry returns to near normal operations globally. Should the UK Covid situation significantly change, we will follow the department of Education guidance and again review our plan to deliver a full or part time programme of online teaching utilising “Teams”, where it is deemed necessary for the safety of all students and staff.
While our staff and learners have showed amazing resilience against the ever-challenging backdrop of the pandemic, it has become apparent that our learners well-being has been negatively impacted due to the lack of social contact and interactions over the prolonged lockdown period. We are therefore working hard to support all learners to rebuild their confidence and social/academic skills both in and outside college, and have every confidence that they will have the same opportunity to reach their full potential this year and into the future.
