About the course

Location: Stansted Airport College

This course is for Adults looking to progress their careers in the aviation industry, looking to change career and work in the industry or Aviation enthusiasts wanting to gain a greater understanding of the Aviation industry and how it operates.  

This qualification is designed to give the learner an introduction into working in the Travel and Tourism Industry with an emphasis on the Aviation Sector, Including: 

  • Understand the principles of the Travel and Tourism Industry specifically the Aviation Industry. 
  • Exploration of the occupational roles within the Aviation pathway industry
  • The opportunity to gain proficiency in a number of practical and work-related transferable skills

Entry requirements

Individuals should ideally hold a level 2 in English and maths. They should also have a keen interest in the area or desire to work in the Travel industry.

As part of the Free Courses for Jobs offer, the tuition fees for some courses are paid by the UK Government. You may be eligible for this funding if you:

  • are 19 or over and do not already have a level 3 qualification, or
  • already have a level 3 qualification or higher but earn below the National Living Wage annually (£22,308), or
  • already have a level 3 qualification or higher but are unemployed

If you are not eligible for funding under the Free Courses for Jobs offer an Advanced Learner Loan may be available to help you cover the costs of learning, which you pay back when you are earning over a certain amount. 19 to 23 year olds will continue to be eligible for their first full level 3 via the adult education budget, and for any additional qualifications made available through this offer.

Why study?

Learners will be provided with materials during teaching sessions which will afford the foundation knowledge upon which independent research, creative and factual writing and diagrams must be completed. An assignment brief will always be provided for each task which will outline what is required to meet each grade, and the deadline for that submission. Teachers will provide detailed feedback and feedforward for improvements for all work submitted.

Submission of work may be required in any, or all, of the following formats throughout the year

  • Written document or fact file 
  • Diagrams/pictures/flow charts/and other pictorial representations
  • Comparison tables with justification
  • Case studies
  • Journal or work book portfolio
  • Researched proposals
  • PowerPoint presentations
  • Verbal presentation to a group e.g. the class
  • Recorded and live role play and practical tasks
  • One to one professional discussions

Where will this course take me?

This course could help to kick start your career in the Travel and Aviation industry or help to progress your career if you already work in the industry through the development of essential skills and knowledge on a broad range of subjects. On completion of the course you could also progress to our Level 4/5 in Aviation Management programme.
