About the course
This 10 day Essential Digital Skills course is for adults who want to learn digital skills for life, work or use in study.
Our Essential Digital Skills course is intended to support adults who want to join the digital world by learning digital skills for life, their work or for use in further study.
During the 10 day course, you will learn how to:
Use devices & handle information
Where you'll learn your way around a computer, smart phone and other devices
Create and edit documents
You'll learn how to write letters and design things like digital posters
Different types of communication
You'll learn how to write emails, using social media and video calls
Transacting
This will cover things like shopping and banking online
Be safe & responsible online
You'll learn how to protect your identity, avoid scams and protect your computer from viruses
This qualification equips you with essential digital skills, empowering you to engage with the digital world confidently. Upon successful completion, you may choose to advance to higher-level digital qualifications or use these skills to explore new employment opportunities.
Entry requirements
No formal qualifications are required but learners will be required to undertake initial assessments in digital skills to assess current level.
Learners must be unemployed and in receipt of benefit or earning under £25,000 per annum.
Must have a National Insurance number.
Must have been a UK resident for the last 3 years or proof of right to education.

Free if you are unemployed and receiving benefits or earning under £25,000 per annum.

Where will this course take me?
The course gives learners the opportunity to develop basic IT skills that will equip them to be able to carry out general administration using IT. This gives options for a wide range of job roles including administration, retail and hospitality, warehousing/factory work.
If studying the Entry 3 course, successful completion offers progression to the level 1 course. The course will equip learners with the digital skills required for a wide range of courses the college offers. Previous learners have progressed onto preparing to work in schools and also AAT.
