Bright Futures training centre offer a number of different courses aimed at both people who are unemployed as well as individuals employed looking to upskill. These are offered both face-to-face as well as virtually.

Essential Digital Skills

This 11 day Essential Digital Skills course is for adults who want to learn digital skills for life, work or use in study.

Our Essential Digital Skills course is intended to support adults who want to join the digital world by learning digital skills for life, their work or for use in further study.

During the 10 day course, you will learn how to:

Use devices & handle information

Where you'll learn your way around a computer, smart phone and other devices

Create and edit documents

You'll learn how to write letters and design things like digital posters

Different types of communication

You'll learn how to write emails, using social media and video calls

Transacting

This will cover things like shopping and banking online

Be safe & responsible online

You'll learn how to protect your identity, avoid scams and protect your computer from viruses

This qualification equips you with essential digital skills, empowering you to engage with the digital world confidently. Upon successful completion, you may choose to advance to higher-level digital qualifications or use these skills to explore new employment opportunities.

Preparing to Work in Construction (CSCS)

This 9-day, tailormade programme provides you with four essential qualifications, setting you up with the knowledge and skills to work as a manual labourer on construction sites throughout the UK.

This tailormade programme combines four essential qualifications, giving you both the skills and credentials that construction employers value. In just over a week, you’ll gain practical knowledge and the key employability skills needed to enter the construction industry with confidence.

Preparing to Work in Security (SIA)

To pursue a career in the security industry, obtaining an SIA licence is essential. This course will guide you through four key qualifications that will prepare you for a successful career in security.

Qualifications Included:

Level 1 Extended Certificate in Employability Skills: This qualification focuses on developing personal and social skills, tailored to meet the specific requirements of the security industry. 

The course uses a project-based approach, where you'll work as part of a team on two projects:

  • Project A: Searching for a job
  • Project B: Setting up a security company (including Level 1 Award in Drug & Alcohol Awareness)

Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work: This qualification is mandatory for all SIA licensed security staff from April 2021. It covers critical first aid skills.

Level 2 Award in Door Supervision: This nationally recognised qualification, required to work in the security industry, prepares you for the SIA exams. It includes both theoretical and practical training in areas like Physical Intervention, ensuring you're ready for employment as a Door Supervisor or in the Manned Guarding sector.

All courses are taught by experienced tutors with backgrounds in the security industry. Upon successful completion, Harlow College will fund your SIA licence.

Warehousing and Storage

This course is designed to equip learners with the foundational knowledge and practical skills essential for effective warehousing and storage operations. By understanding the intricacies of receiving, storing, processing, and dispatching goods, learners will be able to contribute to the efficiency and safety of warehouse environments. Additionally, the inclusion of customer service principles ensures that learners appreciate the importance of meeting customer needs, which is critical for maintaining client satisfaction and fostering long-term business relationships.
