Looking to kickstart your career in construction? Our CSCS Green Labourers Card Course is the perfect opportunity! This 9-day, tailormade programme provides you with four essential qualifications, setting you up with the knowledge and skills to work as a manual labourer on construction sites throughout the UK.
This tailormade programme combines four essential qualifications, giving you both the skills and credentials that construction employers value. In just over a week, you’ll gain practical knowledge and the key employability skills needed to enter the construction industry with confidence.
The qualifications are outlined below:
- Extended Certificate in Employability Skills (Entry 3)
This focuses on developing understanding and knowledge ready to work in the construction industry, enabling individuals to progress in to employment. It is tailored to suit requirements of the construction industry and includes:
- Communication Skills for Work
- Working in a Team
- Sustainability
- Conduct at Work
- Exploring and Presenting Enterprise Ideas
- Health and Safety in the Workplace
- Numeracy Skills for Work
- Solving Work Related Problems
- Introduction to Self Employment
- Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment (Level 1)
This part of the course is required by CITB. It will enable you to undertake the CITB Operatives Health, Safety and Environment examination, both are required before you can apply for a CSCS card. It covers:
- Risk Assessments
- Manual handling
- Working Safely at Height
- Award in Mental Health Awareness (Level 1)
This qualification includes up to date, relevant information about mental health and the affects this can have on people working in the construction industry. It covers:
- What is Meant by Mental Health
- Awareness of some of the Social and Personal effects of Mental Ill-Health
- Awareness of some of the Responses to Mental Health Issues
- Awareness of Cultural Diversity in Relation to Mental Health Issues
- Award in Progression (Entry Level 3)
This stand alone qualification includes 1 English unit only, in Read for Information
You will work collaboratively and independently to complete the following three projects in order to demonstrate sufficient knowledge;
Project A – The self employed trades person
Project B – Working in the Construction Industry
Project C – Mental Health Awareness
On completion of the course Harlow College will book and pay for your CSCS green labourer’s card test.
Entry requirements
No formal qualifications are required but learners will be required to undertake initial assessments in English and maths.
Learners must be unemployed and in receipt of benefit or earning under £25,000 per annum.
Must have a National Insurance number.
Must have been a UK resident for the last 3 years or proof of right to education.

Assessed through activities in class and continuous feedback given. Evidenced through completion of project workbooks, written assignment and practical observation.
