About the course
The Level 1 Diploma in Hair and Beauty is designed to build on your interest and passion for the hair and beauty industry, covering a wide range of skills from styling, plaiting and twisting to make-up or nail art.
This qualification is designed for those who wish to prepare for further learning or training in the hair and beauty sector. It will also enable you to perform your own basic services and to assist others in the salon.
Entry requirements
Minimum of a grade 1 in English and Maths.
How much does it cost?
Kit, uniform, shoes, A4 lever arch files, pens, textbook. Approx cost £250.
Trips Approx £50.

How will I be assessed?
You will have a mixture of practical sessions in the salon and classroom-based lessons teaching underpinning knowledge. You will be expected to complete beauty services on paying clients in the commercial salon.
It is expected that you may need to bring in your own clients for practical assessments. Practical sessions will be done in both hair and beauty.
You will be assessed through:
- Online exams
- Practical observations
- Assignments
