Duration

Practical period - 12 months (this does not include EPA period).

Average EPA preparation period – 1 months.

Study Mode

Day release (1 day per week).

An additional half day may be required for apprentices working towards English & Maths achievement.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirement: GCSE English and Maths at Grade 2, or Functional Skills English and Maths at Entry Level 3.

Apprentices who have not yet achieved Level 2 in English and Maths must continue working towards a Level 2 qualification, or an equivalent, in both subjects.

Occupation Summary

An Early Years Practitioner (EYP) works as part of a professional team, ensuring children's welfare and care under the supervision of an Early Years Educator or qualified professional.

Course Overview

The Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship equips individuals with essential knowledge, skills, and behaviours to support the development of children from birth to age 5. End Point Assessment

The Apprenticeship End Point Assessment (EPA) is the final assessment an apprentice must complete to successfully finish their apprenticeship.

The End Point Assessment for this standard consists of the following elements:

• Knowledge test
• Professional discussion underpinned by portfolio

Progression Opportunities

With the skills, knowledge, and experience gained, you can begin your career as an Early Years Practitioner, with opportunities to work as an assistant childminder, nanny, or nursery assistant.

You can also progress to a Level 3 Apprenticeship as an Early Years Educator.
