About the course
This course is designed to upskill young people working in the catering industry. You will study how to maintain a safe, hygienic and secure working environment, how to maintain, handle and clean knives, how to work effectively as part of a hospitality team and maintain food safety when storing, preparing and cooking food. Completing this course will mean you have a qualification that shows employers and customers you have the skills to work in a range of catering and hospitality roles like hotel receptionist, chef, bartender or waiter/waitress.
Entry requirements
You must have passed the Level 1 Certificate in Culinary Skills or an equivalent Level 1 qualification in Hospitality.
How much does it cost?
Free to those aged 16-18. There is a range of financial support that you may be entitled to, including Learner Support funds, grants and bursaries and employer support.

Who is it suitable for?
This course will suit you if you are already in full-time employment, progressing from a Level 1 qualification or in a position to start studying at Level 2. As part of this course you will also have the opportunity to top up your maths and English skills if applicable for your studies.

Why study?
You will gain a good standard of cookery skills and learn other workplace essentials such as hygiene, health and safety, teamwork and customer care. This course can lead to progression onto a Level 3 course.
We have strong links with Raddison Blu Hotel, Manor of Groves Hotel and Mulberry House Hotel.
Where will this course take me?
Employment as a chef in hotels, restaurant or industrial catering establishments. Progression to a level 3 course.
