About the course

The online world is changing rapidly. More businesses and individuals are turning to social media and online content as a tool for growth. If you aspire to earn a living in social media, you’ve come to the right place. On this course you will learn how to shoot, edit and distribute your own content – allowing you to explore your creativity by working within a range of genres. You will build a portfolio of work across a variety of online platforms, develop your entrepreneurial skills, and explore how you can monetise your content. Whether you aspire to become a social media influencer, or managing PR and social media accounts for celebrities/businesses, this course is designed for you.

Qualification

Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology

Entry requirements

Diploma – 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including grade 4 in Maths or in English Language or Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media at Pass or above.

Extended Diploma – successful completion of Diploma in Year 1

Why study?

You will learn how to create, edit and distribute content using industry-standard equipment. This includes: up-to-date video editing software, as well as cameras, tripods, smartphone-ready mics, grips and lighting rigs.

Classes are taught by industry professionals in a classroom setting in one of our computer suites. You will be encouraged to create a range of content that is designed to test your creativity. Throughout the course, you will experience what it is like to work for a large company as well as an independent content creator. You will receive 1-2-1 tutorials to help nurture and develop your work. You will engage in independent and group work.

Where will this course take me?

Those who complete this course can expect to graduate onto university, the UAL level 4 course in Business Enterprise, or the NCTJ Diploma in journalism.

You will need a notebook, pens, pencils, and a smartphone. All other material, including computers, editing software, cameras, lighting, mics etc is provided by the department.
