UAL Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design

A broad introduction to the study of art and design with the opportunity to produce experimental work in a range of subject areas – which covers painting, drawing, printmaking, textiles, ceramics, 3D design, photography and graphic design.

Art & Design Level 3

UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma Creative Practice: Art, Design and Communication

Within the Art and Design Level 3 course at Harlow College there are a number of specialist pathways including:

  • Fine Art pathway: Drawing, Painting, Mixed Media, Digital Illustration, Sculpture, Installation
  • 2D Design pathway: Illustration, Graphic Design,  Comics and Graphic Novels, Animation, Concept Art and Character Design, Surface Pattern and Textiles
  • 3D Design Pathway: Architecture, Interior Design, Theatre Design (Set, Costume, Props), Design Crafts, Visual Merchandising, Ceramics

Students can specialise in their chosen career pathway from unit 3 to unit 6 utilising their creative interests and individual skills or may choose to work in a range of specialist disciplines throughout the course.

The course content also includes Art and Design History, careers in the creative industries, environmental issues, ethics and sustainability live briefs and competitions, portfolio preparation and opportunities for work experience.

AAT Level 1 Access Award in Bookkeeping (Online and On Campus)

This Level 1 qualification is studied both online and on campus, meaning part of your study will be at home and part of your study will be face to face in college. The course introduces the role of a bookkeeper and simple bookkeeping techniques. It covers the buying and selling process and the common documents used. The unit also includes recording transactions in the books of prime entry. On completion of this unit, students will be familiar with bookkeeping terminology and will have developed practical bookkeeping skills. Students will gain the confidence to contribute effectively in the workplace and to move on to further study in bookkeeping.

On successful completion of this course, you might be eligible for a fully funded Level 2 course. Please see information on progression.

AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting (Online and On Campus)

This AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) Foundation course is an entry-level accounting qualification, ideal for anyone who is seeking an introduction to basic accounting principles and skills.

This flexible course is delivered in partnership with Mindful Education, and combines online learning with face-to-face lessons in the classroom, meaning part of your study will be at home and part of your study will be face to face in college.

On successful completion of this course, you might be eligible for a fully funded Level 3 course. Please see information on progression.

Please note: classroom attendance is fortnightly, on every other Tuesday.

AAT Level 2 Certificate in Bookkeeping (Online and On Campus)

This AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) Foundation course is an entry-level bookkeeping qualification, ideal for anyone who is seeking an introduction to basic bookkeeping principles and skills.

This flexible course is delivered in partnership with Mindful Education and combines online learning with face-to-face lessons in the classroom, meaning part of your study will be at home and part of your study will be face to face in college.

This Level 2 course is part-funded, so the cost for students is reduced. 

On successful completion of this course, you might be eligible for a fully funded Level 3 course. Please see information on progression.

AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting (Online and On Campus)

This AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) advanced level course is a mid-level accounting qualification, ideal for anyone who is looking to advance their existing knowledge of accounting. 

This flexible course is delivered in partnership with Mindful Education, and combines online learning with face-to-face lessons in the classroom, meaning part of your study will be at home and part of your study will be face to face in college. 

This Level 3 course is part of the National Skills Fund initiative and is fully funded for eligible learners. Alternatively, you can apply for an advanced learner loan to cover the cost of studying this course. Please ask a member of college staff for more information.

Access to Industry

This 5 day course comprises of one qualification tailored to address the skills needed to successfully progress on to one of our industry specific employability courses such as SIA, CSCS, Prepare to work in Schools and others. 

Aeronautical Engineering Extended Diploma

Talented engineers, technicians and managers are vital to the future success of the engineering and aeronautical industries. This course will give you a solid knowledge base as well as supporting you to develop essential hand skills that will enable you to progress into roles such as an aircraft maintenance technician or aircraft fitter. You could also progress to an apprenticeship or onto a higher level of study.

Art A Level

Explore a range of media, processes and techniques. You will also explore images, artefacts and resources that relate to art from the past and present, both European and non-European. You will demonstrate your response to this art though practical and critical activities that show your understanding of different styles, genres and traditions. You will explore drawing using a variety of methods and media.

Automation and Controls Engineering Technician Apprenticeship

Automation and Controls engineering technicians work as part of multidisciplinary teams, collaborating with various stakeholders such as design and production teams, and coordinating with both internal and external customers. They monitor automation systems either on-site or remotely, ensuring functionality by managing equipment and software. In large companies, they typically report to an engineering manager, while in smaller businesses they may have more autonomy. Their responsibilities include health, safety, and environmental protection.
